Dear Neighbor,
We hope you discovered an ocean of fun this fall and are prepared to come indoors for a full slate of programs and activities.
We kick off our winter season by opening the Winterfest of Lights on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 5:30 PM. Join us for the festive Tree Lighting Ceremony and the opening of the Winterfest displays and train rides here at Northside Park. Santa Claus will be on hand and we will have live entertainment to set the holiday mood. If you can’t make it for opening night, the Winterfest of Lights will be running every evening from November 20, 2008 thru January 1, 2009 from 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM.
This year’s Winterfest of Lights will include many exciting features including the use of the boardwalk trains and the tent covered village and loading area to insure warmth and comfort regardless of the weather. We also plan special entertainment and activities under the Winterfest tent to make your visit more enjoyable. And, of course, there are always some sparkling new light displays to see, so plan to bring your family and friends to this year’s Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park.
We are pleased to announce that you may now register for your favorite recreation and parks programs on-line. We have installed WebTrac, our new on-line registration program, and welcome you to take advantage of this quick and easy way to sign up for programs.
We are pleased to announce some staff changes. Lynda Brittingham has been appointed to the position of Recreation Supervisor and will succeed Rod Dulany who left in August to work for the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Lynda was previously the Special Events Coordinator with the Department and is familiar with many of our programs and operations.
We hope you take full advantage of our recreation facilities here at Northside Park. Whatever your interest, we have plenty of programs and activities for you to enjoy. So pick something that appeals to you in this issue of Splash! And sign up now. We’re sure you will “discover an ocean of fun” at your recreation and parks department.
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Shuster
