Festivals Throughout The Year At The Beach

Ocean City, Maryland invites you to join us for great fun at our numerous family-oriented festivals and special events held throughout the year.

Winterfest of Lights features dazzling lights on winter nights from Nov. 18, 2004 to Jan. 2, 2005. Join in the fun and discover this seaside resort when it transforms itself into a winter wonderland. More than 800,000 holiday lights sparkle throughout the town on animated displays. Take a drive through the Tunnel of Lights at the inlet lot where you will find the beach filled with magical lights boasting a nautical theme. Follow the decorations all the way to Northside Park at 127th Street bayside and a winter wonderland. Ride the Winterfest Express through two miles of illuminated ornaments and sculptures. Here you'll see animated magic genies, toy soldiers, the 12 days of Christmas, crabs, marlins and a host of other dancing lights. Stop off at the Winterfest Village; enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a visit with the man in red. Browse Yukon Cornelius' Gift Shop for holiday presents and have your photo taken with Santa. The lights go on at dusk daily and train rides are available at Northside Park each evening Nov. 18 to Jan. 2. Have a jolly good time.

Springfest ’05 blossoms in May to celebrate spring and the upcoming summer season. This year, May 5-8, enjoy four fun-filled days of food, art and great entertainment, all under big-top tents at the southern end of Ocean City. Hundreds of artisans display their wares while a bountiful selection of delicious food is served. Art’s Alive in Ocean City. Visit our resort June 18-19, 2005, and discover Art’s Alive, a wonderful art show the whole family will enjoy. The show takes place at Ocean City’s beautiful Northside Park Complex located at 127th Street and the bay. Take a leisurely stroll through unique art displayed around the deep-water lagoon. Chat with artists, relax over lunch and listen to pleasant music in the tranquil park setting. Art’s Alive includes a juried fine art show with several categories along with children’s art activities. Art’s Alive takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 18-19, 2005. Fourth of July bursts with excitement in Ocean City with two fabulous fireworks displays lighting up the skies. One celebration takes place just off the Boardwalk on the beach at Caroline Street with a free live concert starting at 8 p.m. Bring your blanket, stretch out on the beach and watch the fireworks shooting out over the ocean from the pier at 9:30 p.m. A memorable evening is yours to enjoy.

You can also celebrate the Fourth of July the old-fashioned way with the Jamboree in the Park, held at Northside Park at 127th Street bayside. This enjoyable family event begins at 5 p.m. and features everything from carnival games, relay races, arts and crafts, to great music and lots of fabulous food, plus pie-eating contests. Sundaes in the Park - Each Sunday evening July 10 through Aug. 28, 2005 at Northside Park, 127th St. and the bay. Spend your Sunday evenings making your own ice cream sundae and enjoying your favorite live music from 6 to 8 p.m. Families will enjoy free music ranging from pop, country and rock to Big Band and jazz. Each week offers different children’s activities and entertainment, but the best thing about Sundaes in the Park is the ice cream sundaes. Create your own masterpiece for a small fee, sit back, listen to the music and watch the sun set over the beautiful Assawoman Bay.

 

Free Concerts on the Beach - Each Wednesday evening July 13 through Aug. 24, 2005 at N. Division St. Treat yourself to a summer collection of music. Relax on the soft, white-sand beach, view the sparkling blue ocean and dance by moonlight. Enjoy a variety of music each Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

 

Bonfires on the Beach - Each Thursday evening at 9 p.m. July 14 through Aug. 25, 2005 on the beach at N. Division St. Enjoy a bonfire on the beach just steps from Ocean City’s Boardwalk. Gather around the bonfire as a guest speaker informs and entertains. Speakers vary from week to week.

 

Labor Day Weekend ConcertsSept. 3-4, 2005 on the beach at N. Division St. Attention music lovers: On Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend, the Town of Ocean City will offer free concerts on the beach. Come early to get a prime spot for you and your family and capture an ocean memory.

 

Sunfest ’05 celebrates summer’s end and fall’s fabulous beginning Sept. 22-25, 2005. This nationally recognized festival is a Top 100 Event in the USA, and people come from miles around to enjoy this fantastic annual event. Enjoy four family-fun-filled days of music by well-known performers, great food and an endless array of arts and crafts under big-top tents in south Ocean City. Admission to the festival is free and includes hayrides, scarecrow making, a treasure hunt on the beach, children’s activities and much, much more. Fly In to Ocean City at the Ocean City Municipal Airport Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9, 2005. Or you can just drive on over to see more than 50 aircraft of all types on display. Our newest special event also offers educational presentations, parachute and aircraft demonstrations, food, music and more. Admission to the show is free. The Ocean City Municipal Airport is located off Route 611 in West Ocean City

 

Seaside 10 - 10 mile and 5K run on Oct. 29, 2005. Runners take your mark. It’s time to “get ready, get set and go” running through Ocean City. Runners from around the country enjoy this challenging 10-mile race around the Town of Ocean City including three miles of Boardwalk spanning our famous beachfront resort. A 5K fun run takes place for those looking for a good time. Come dressed for Halloween and compete for special awards for best-costumed runners.
