July 4th:
Two Great Ways To Celebrate in Ocean City
Fourth of July is double the fun in Ocean City with two family-friendly events to celebrate the holiday
Ocean City, MD -- The Fourth of July will be filled with family fun in Ocean City with two great ways to celebrate this special day -- Jamboree in the Park at Northside Park and the Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks on the beach at North Division St.
Jamboree in the Park offers action-packed activities the whole family will enjoy. Beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing on until the evening's fireworks display, an exciting slate of activities, including arts and crafts, children's games, live music and food will beckon families to Northside Park, located at 127th St. and bayside.
Bring your appetites along because Jamboree in the Park offers food galore. Smoothies, funnel cakes, lemonade, barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, Italian sausages, french fries, cheese steaks, ice cream, pretzels, grilled chicken, Caesar salads and much, much more will satisfy your taste buds.
The Fun Field is filled with wonderful activities for families to enjoy. Numerous inflatable rides, a dunking booth and mini train ride are always fun attractions, while the 25-cent carnival games (where everyone's a winner) keep children entertained.
Jamboree also offers a battery of old-fashioned picnic favorites, including tug-of-war, sack races, three-legged races, intermixed with a challenging soccer shootout. The best thing about all the children's activities is they're free.
Special contests are always a highlight at Jamboree in the Park. Pie eating contests for children and adults are scheduled. Early registration is recommended for these activities, as participation is limited.
The spectacular fireworks display will be shot from the west side of the park at 9:30 p.m. You'll be sure to hear the oohs and aahs throughout the park as the colorful displays cover the evening sky. Get there early to claim the best location to view the fireworks
Those who prefer to spend their July 4th on the south end of town can enjoy Ocean City's famous Boardwalk with its bright lights, wonderful food and family fun. Bring your beach chair or blanket and claim a spot on the N. Division St. beach for a patriotic concert at 8 p.m. provided by the United States Air Force Mid-Atlantic Band. Fabulous fireworks will fill the sky over the ocean beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Parking is extremely limited at both the north and south fireworks locations. It is recommended that you take the bus. Bus service is $2 a day and runs 24 hours a day. The West Ocean City Park and Ride on Route 50 just west of the bridge offers free parking and $1 shuttle service.
