Tips for Your Winter Getaway in Ocean City

Yes – we’re open during the winter season and yes – there’s still so much to do!

Once upon a time, Ocean City’s Coastal Highway was furnished with blinking yellow lights in its offseason. Gone are those blinking yellow lights and now more people are discovering that there’s still more fun to be had during the winter in Ocean City.

There are so many offseason perks to enjoy, whether it’s taking your pup on the beach, free and plentiful parking, restaurant specials, hotel deals, or fewer crowds!

Indoor Entertainment

Planning a date night or taking the kids out for a special treat? The movies are always a great option in the offseason following a delicious dinner in town.

Insider Tip: Fox Gold Coast Theatre and Sun & Surf Theatre have winter specials - $5 movie tickets on Tuesdays!

Some other ideas are to:

- Go ice skating in the Carousel Hotel

- Get creative and take a class at the Ocean City Center for the Arts

- Go mini-golfing at one of our two indoor courses

- Shop the Ocean City Outlets for apparel, housewares, home furnishings and more. Thinking of taking up surfing next summer? Stop by K-Coast Surf Shop to get all of your beachwear needs.

Explore Outside

The beach is a special place in the winter. You can bring your pup to play, and even park for free at the Inlet Lot!

One of the best things about exploring outside after a storm is the great seashell findings along the shore. Did you know that experienced and passionate surfers actually surf year-round? It’s a blast to watch them in their element, all geared up in full wetsuits!

The Boardwalk is also tons of fun in the offseason. You can take a walk, ride your bike, or even find a Thrasher’s open on nice weekends!

And we always recommend taking a drive out to Assateague Island for a nature-filled day trip. Have you ever seen the wild ponies with their extra fuzzy winter coats? There’s nothing better!

Whether you want to warm up with a margarita or a latte, Ocean City has plenty of great spots to check out!

Insider Tip: Call ahead to confirm winter hours. To start your search, use our Fall/Winter Restaurant List!

Here are some of our favorites:

- Head to the 67th Street Town Center and grab a bite at Longboard Café

- Take a tour at Seacrets Distillery tour or Windmill Creek Winery in nearby Berlin

- Bring your book and warm up with a cup of coffee at Rise Up Coffee!

A vacation is always fun when it’s supplemented with some pool time! Whether you’re bringing the kids to play in the pool or bringing a book to relax, it’s a good idea to consider booking accommodations with an indoor pool in the offseason.

Insider Tip: Consider booking a hotel with an indoor pool during the offseason.

Here are some places we’d check out for your winter trip:

- Holiday Inn 17th Street

- Fenwick Inn

- Princess Royale

We’d also recommend considering booking a hotel with a restaurant located onsite. This is so convenient when facing winter weather, which can often welcome rain or snow! Sometimes, hotels will even offer special restaurant deals for booking during these months.

Some options we like are:

The Dunes Manor, which has the Victorian Room inside. Their menu has something for everyone — and don’t forget their oceanfront view!

In the newly and beautifully renovated DoubleTree, check out the Marlin Moon Restaurant.
