The closest cities by size are Salisbury and Baltimore.  Salisbury is about 45 minutes away and has a population of about 33,000 people.  Baltimore is 3 hours away and has a population of 600,000.  Philadelphia is about the same as Baltimore.

My kids are 4, 11 and 13. Is all of the tram pricing the same for children?

Submitted by Gail S, Wilmington DE on July 25, 2019

Tram pricing per person/per-boarding ticket is the same regardless of age.  You can find more information here.

It is a wonderful way to see the Boardwalk and the beach!

Our hotel cannot accommodate our vehicles in their garage. Do you know of any private lots or recommendations of where to park?

Submitted by Cindy S, Butler IN on July 24, 2019

First, I would ask your hotel where to park.  They may have arranged additional parking.  Ask when you check in.  There is ample free parking bayside, above 10th Street, on side streets.  Just be sure to read the signs where you park.  If there are no signs, you have no parking restrictions.  You may have to drive a few blocks from your hotel, but there should be free parking.

Any recommendations for an experienced maternity/sunset photographer?

Submitted by Michael B, Pittsburgh PA on July 25, 2019

I suggest contacting Chris Parypa (646.441.0907). We have used him a few times for family portraits (one of them is below) and they always came out great. He takes a broad range of photo types and our pictures were taken in early evening, about an hour before sunset.

Can I use my drone while surf fishing?

Submitted by Bobby W, Gaithersburg MD on July 24, 2019

Most of Ocean City is within 5 miles of an airport and hence, is a no fly zone, per the FAA, for drones. I recommend calling Parks and Recreation for the latest interpretation of this.  They can be reached at (410) 250-0125.

I am also not sure a drone would help with surf fishing as most surf fish are bottom feeders.  Most surf fishing uses a bottom weight with about a foot of line below the weight.

Do you have a parking map for overnight parking or any recommendations?

Submitted by Donna T, Denton MD on July 23, 2019

There is no parking map I am aware of for OC, but there is a list of municipal parking lots and other parking info located here. You can park on most side streets north of 6th Street on the bayside, and north of 10th Street on the ocean side for free. Just be sure to check the signs in the area where you park for any restrictions. If you leave a car parked in the same place on a public street or municipal lot for over 48 hours it could be considered abandoned and get towed, although I have never had such an issue.

Is there a place where you can park for a week at a time?

Submitted by Ashley P, York PA on July 24, 2019

There is ample free parking in Ocean City.  Most bayside, streets above 4th Street offer free parking.  Just read the street signs.  Areas with free parking will not have any posted restrictions.

Do you know how often there are umbrella rentals available? I'm hoping to find some near 26th Sreet.

Submitted by Tammy S, Baltimore MD on July 23, 2019

There are umbrella rental stands every 1 to 4 blocks, depending how busy the area of the beach is. There should be rental boxes at the ends of 25th, 26th, and 27th Street, so you will definitely be very close to one of them.
