Are there any street legal golf carts or electric vehicles that can be rented for the week so my group can shuttle around if we stay at a location 2 miles from the beach? Thank you!

Submitted by Ashlea R, PITTSBURGH PA on January 14, 2020

There are no street legal carts or such that can used.  You could try and rent scooters or mopeds for the week from Continental Cycles.  You could also just take a car or cab to the beach.  It would not be expensive and may be easier than renting scooters.

You will find 90% of Ocean City open and ready for fun!  The summer season really starts on May 1st and many places are open year-round now.  I am confident you will have a great time!

What are some tips you have when visiting Ocean City?

Submitted by Ryan F, Baltimore MD on January 6, 2020

My tips really depend on when you are coming, what your interests are, and the demographics of the group you are travelling with. My more general tips are:

- Look through OCOcean.com and search or browse our OC Insiders posts for more info to find out almost anything you could want to know about Ocean City.

- Check the OCOcean Events page to see what is going on when you plan to be in OC.

- Once you get into town, be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center at the south end of the Conventions Center at 40th Street to get lots of guide books, information, coupons, and deals.

OC Has lots of things you can do for free. The beach and boardwalk are always free and there are tons of free events too, especially in season

Is Ocean City decent for a relaxing late December impromptu get-a-way? Is stuff open? How is the lodging situation that time of year?

Submitted by John R, Ridgefield NJ on December 11, 2019

I have often been to OC in late December. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy some more casual nightlife and great restaurants, then it is a good choice. If you are looking for outdoor activities or water sports, then it is not a god choice. Lodging is easy to find- there are many major hotels open, and if you want to rent a condo or similar you can pick almost anything you could want at a great price. See the OCOcean Accommodations page to access lots of great lodging options

OC has lots of events in December. See many of them here. The Winterfest of Lights is great fun,.

Here are a few more fun things to do in December:

Stop by the Convention Center Visitors Center at 40th Street for more ideas and information about events, restaurants, activities, and discounts.

Take a walk along boardwalk. Boardwalk favorites  Thrasher's Fries, Dumser's ice cream, Fisher's popcorn (my favorite!), Candy Kitchen offer great boardwalk eats. Marty's Playland arcade is my kids' favorite, but there are several arcades along the boards. You can also rent bikes and ride the boards before 11am.

Take the Seacrets Distillery Tour - I've done it several times, and it is fabulous! I recommend making reservations for the tour (410/524.2669).

Pamper yourself at a local spa. Some great options are OC Massage, Grand Aqua Spa, and Creative Day Spa.

There are several local breweries and wineries in the area. Click on the links, and check one or more of them out!

If you like art, take a trip to the Art League Center for the Arts Gallery on 94th Street. I go here almost every time I am in town. Their exhibits change monthly, and I always find something interesting to look at there, plus it is FREE.

If you like to gamble, the Ocean Downs Casino is about 5 miles outside of Ocean City on Racetrack Road (Route 589). This casino has a wide range of electronic games, slots, and table games.

If you are a golfer and you get a warm day, OC has lots of great courses. If some of you a novice golfer, try Ocean Resort Golf Club. They are a course that works well for both less proficient golfers (like me), and for more experienced ones too (like the crew I head down with every year).

Checkout the interesting shops in nearby Berlin.

If you like history definitely visit the OC Lifesaving Museum at the south end of the boardwalk (Hint: Get free passes at the Visitors Center at the south end of the Convention Center) . If it is a nice day, consider a drive up to Fort Miles in Lewis Delaware to see the restored Coastal Defenses and go up in one of the Fire Control Towers for a spectacular view.

Take a trip down to Assateague. It is only about a 15 minute drive. There is a great Visitor's Center on the right. It has lots of great interactive and touch-type exhibits that kids love. It also has a few short interesting movies about Assateague. You can drive a fair distance on Assateague before entering the fee area and I almost always see the horses in the free area. There are some great short easy hikes in the fee area that you may want to consider if the weather is nice.

Have fun in OC!

Where are the lifeguards present during the summer in Ocean City, Maryland?

Submitted by Maureen R, Ellicott city MD on December 2, 2019

During the summer lifeguards are stationed for the entire 10-mile stretch of OC's beach. Their stands are generally spaced 1 to 3 blocks apart, depending on the time of the season and how busy the beach is in their area. Guards go on duty Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and remain on duty everyday until the Sunday of Sunfest weekend in late September. They are on duty from 10am to 5:30pm.

I'm traveling from Lanham, Maryland. How can I get to Ocean City, Maryland without crossing the Bay Bridge?

Submitted by Janice L, Lanham MD on November 12, 2019

It is an easy and direct drive.  You need to take I-95 North past Baltimore to Route 1 South in Delaware.

General directions are as follows:

Take I95N towards New York

Take I95N to Route 1 S in Delaware; Route 1 is Coastal Highway in Ocean City.

You can use any GPS program for specific roads and turns, just select the route using I95 N.

Keep in mind the tolls.
