Can you use canopies on the beach?

Yes, you can use canopies as long as yo set them up west of the line of lifeguard stands and anchor them securely. The same rules apply to umbrellas.

Centreville, VA Answered: August 5, 2019 Insider Since 2010You can use canopies. We see them often. I highly recommend making sure they are weighted down and well secured. We see them tip often. They also need to be set up closer to the dunes - west of the lifeguard stands - to ensure the lifeguards can see the beach.
