Is there a schedule for which beaches (streets) will have lifeguards in September?
Submitted by Pete L, Shady Side MD on September 12, 2019
Oc's entire stretch of beach will be guarded, but their are fewer guards, so they are spread out more (sometimes 5+ blocks). People are encouraged to swim near a guard. Guards tend to be located in areas where the beaches are more crowded, usually near larger motels/hotels/condos. The guards' last day on duty for the season is 22 September 2019.
hey pete, lifeguards are only on duty until the 9/22/2019. i would swim when they are there and not before or after. as Savas mentioned if it is not safe to swim then do not go in the water. that is your safest bet is to make sure there are no rip currents. be safe but also enjoy the beach. for more info visit http://www.ococean.com
Yes, click here to see the schedule. There are lifeguards about every 6-8 blocks apart. My advice is to move near one when swimming. And if the water is rough, just stay out. That is your safest bet for staying safe. Have fun at the beach.
There are also lifeguards driving the beach in quads. If you see an emergency call 911. Help is typically close by.
