Experience the summer and fall seasons on the coast of Ocean City, Maryland. We are excited to welcome you to OC to make happy memories, but ask that you continue to follow the rules and guidelines outlined by the CDC and State of Maryland. Personal responsibility and doing what is comfortable for you and your family will continue to be of great importance during your trip. While you’re here, we encourage you to continue practicing health and safety guidelines, including physical distancing.
We’re asking everyone to continue practicing physical distancing, and please follow all of the rules and guidelines we have in place. You can’t press pause on safety while you’re on vacation. By being just a little extra cautious, you’ll help keep the town, yourself, and your family healthy and happy moving forward.
Masks and face coverings are no longer required for all Marylanders outdoors or indoors at public businesses (effective May 15.)
Private businesses and workplaces are free to put in place their own policies or guidelines. In alignment with CDC guidance, face coverings will still be required on public transportation. Marylanders who are not yet vaccinated are strongly encouraged to continue wearing masks, especially when physical distancing can not be maintained.
Below is an overview of what you can expect when visiting Ocean City. Please reach out to each respective business prior to your visit for safety precautions and hours of operation.
The beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City are open to visitors. As with previous years, we do not encourage anyone to go into the ocean when lifeguards are not on duty.
Ocean City restaurants and buffets are open and offering outdoor and indoor dining at full capacity.
Outdoor activities such as miniature golf are open. Indoor activities and amusements such as movie theaters, casinos, and bowling alleys are permitted to open at full capacity. Conventions, concerts and outdoor entertainment are permitted to open at full capacity (effective May 15.) We recommend calling ahead to confirm hours, as some businesses may have adjusted hours.
Salons, gyms and other studio fitness activities are permitted to open at full capacity.
Retail stores, malls, and others are now permitted to open at full capacity with physical distancing protocols still in place.
Churches and other similar religious facilities are permitted to open at full capacity.
Individuals should use discretion and ride at their own risk. We ask that you please practice physical distancing and understand that facial coverings are required to ride. Passengers must be seated, not standing, and disinfectant wipes will be available for use on buses. For more information and to check modified bus hours, please visit the Getting Around OCMD page.
We will continue to assess future event postponements or cancellations, and will align our event decisions with Governor Hogan’s phased approach in his Roadmap to Recovery. The restrictions on out-of-state travel have been lifted, but individuals are encouraged to get tested when returning to their original destination.
Our hotels and short-term rentals are open and accepting reservations. Many are also offering flexible cancellation policies for future trips. It’s important to note that the refund/cancellation policy for any upcoming reservation may vary based on where you are planning to stay, so we encourage you to contact the business directly to inquire about cancellation policies and terms. Masks are required in hotel lobbies and all public areas.
We understand the concerns regarding your safety while visiting Ocean City and its businesses. The health and safety of Ocean City’s residents, visitors, and employees are our number one priority. We are encouraging each individual to practice social distancing guidelines and adhere to the rules and guidelines outlined by the CDC and the State of Maryland.
We can assure you that we are working closely with our partners in the business community, including hotel owners, during these unprecedented times and are communicating to them how crucial it is to adhere to operational guidelines described by the CDC. If you are concerned about what a specific business is doing in regards to mitigating the spread of COVID-19, we encourage you to reach out to them directly.
