We are Sustainable Maryland Certified
At the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, we are focused on positively impacting our community in all we do, including how we interact with and affect our environment. Over the years, our team has put in place initiatives and practices to reduce the Convention Center’s impact on the environment. This work has enhanced our efforts in energy conservation and waste diversion, but it does not stop there. Each day we look for new opportunities to perfect our processes to become better residents of the Earth.

The Roland E. Powell Convention Center is proud to partner with Go Green OC on their mission to become the first zero-waste beach resort.

Litter Free OC
In an effort to eliminate litter, the Town of Ocean City is launching an anti-littering campaign. It will take the community as a whole to prevent littering. The Town of Ocean City is requesting individuals, students, businesses and our partners to pledge and commit to taking part in this anti-littering effort. Take the Pledge.
Sourse Reduction
Our environment is our greatest asset in Ocean City and protecting our ocean, beach and bay is critical in preserving its beauty. With an estimated 12 million metric tons of plastic pollution flooding into our oceans each year, it’s imperative that we end the flow of plastic on land and sea. Recycling alone is simply never going to solve this problem, which is why the Ocean City Green Team is taking on plastic pollution at its source. The work to reduce plastic pollution was kicked off in 2018 by the Surfrider Foundation’s -Ocean City Chapter “Strawless Summer” initiative. This overwhelmingly successful campaign focused on reducing plastic straw consumption by pledging to not use plastic straws. Sign the Pledge.
